For more than 35 years, Difko has been investing in vessels and offshore equipment and is one of the leading players in the Danish shipping investment market. Our activities include developing and setting up new shipping projects as well as providing consultancy and optimisation techniques for our existing shipping companies.

The vessels we acquire are typically modern merchant vessels, and from an earnings point of view they are preferably on time charter or operated in a pool arrangement with other ship owners.

When investigating the market for new investments, we place a lot of emphasis on a vessel being relatively new, with a modern design and built by a reputable yard, in good condition and technically suited to the job it is intended for - and that it complies fully with all international standards, recommendations and regulations for the shipping industry.

In the dry cargo, multipurpose and container vessel segments, we are generally interested in vessels up to 15 years old, or preferably younger. In the tanker segment, we also emphasise the importance of the vessel being double-hulled, that it has a high quality coating and that it is less than 10 years old.

Our shipping investment concept is based on one or more shipping professionals being involved in all projects. For private investors, this means that the project is given an extra [stage] of professional assessment before we decide to offer the project to investors.

Shipping investments can be offered publicly or on a private placement basis (with a pre-existing closed group of investors), depending on what is deemed most appropriate.

Difko's fleet now consists of 22 vessels, the largest being product tankers, combi vessels (OBOs) and dry cargo vessels, as well as the slightly smaller multipurpose, general cargo, container feeder and heavy lift vessels. For more details of Difko's fleet, please see the Fleet list.
